Happenings 2011

American School Alumni Support Youth Sailing
Three guys who went to the American School in Manila a long time ago found each other at the Vero Beach Power Squadron in Vero Beach, Florida. They got together and donated a few dollars to the Youth Sailing Foundation of Indian River County to the Got Your Back advertising plan. They are working together and are in the process of working a plan to get back in touch with AS people. They would like to get contributions to support the AS Dinghy (ASD). Contributions can be made to http://www.ysfirc.org/support.asp

Don't forget to mention that you are supporting the ASD!

YSF seen at Nautical Flea Market

The VBPS Optimist Dingy was on display as well. The Youth Sailing Foundation is supported by the VBPS by its members who are interested in teaching the youngsters how to build and sail these vessels in our local waters. The VBPS as well of some of its members have purchased ($1600) the Opti kits and donated them back to the YSF of IRC. These donations are then assembled, sanded, painted, rigged and then sailed in and around Indian River. You may see these fine vessels and the kids in action in the water in around the Vero Beach mooring fields on Saturdays practicing. For more on the YSF of IRC go to  http://www.ysfirc.org/
